TyPodiumManCup

This past weekend we attended the first ever Amain Manufacturers World Cup held at the famous Silver Dollar Raceway in Chico, CA.  The race for the Pro Class was a Reedy Race format, there were four 14 minute heads up races for each of the three pro classes with 1 throw out in each class.  There was also a team challenge where they took the 2 top finishers in the pro class and the 2 top finishers in the open class for each manufacturer and combined them to determine the winning manufacturer.

The track was high speed with a lot of big air jumps which made for some good racing and it was a lot of fun to drive on.

Had a great weekend in the Philippines, the people were awesome and treated us like royalty, and we can’t thank them enough for the hospitality. It was a great event and if you are thinking of going you won’t be disappointed.
This was the first time running the XRay cars on super high grip and it took us a bit of time to get the setup right but it all came together in the end.

I was able to take the win in both Buggy and Truggy. Running Pro-Line X2 Blockades

Ty_NEO_Podium

This past weekend I race at the NEO race in Newport, UK.  The track was very different this year from previous years, as far as layout and surface.  The track was faster with bigger jumps than ever before.  The surface was drier and more abrasive than it had been in the past as well. Being that this was the first NEO race for us with the Xray car we started with the setups that we have been running in the US.  Which was not bad but not on pace with the fastest drivers,  we struggled with setup throughout practice and qualifying but worked together with the team and by the 4th qualifier we had found pace. Ty4wdPodiumDesertClassic2017

This past weekend was the inaugural Desert Classic race held at Hobby Action RC Raceway in Arizona.  Larry Tom and his staff truly have made an amazing facility with everything a racer could want.

The layout for the race was brand new and it was a bit different than the normal track surface.  The grip was a lot lower than you would expect from an indoor track, there was clay in the surface but also a lot of aggregate as well, that would keep coming to the surface as the cars went around the track.  For me it was quite challenging as well as for many others but it was a pleasant change from what seems to be the norm these days of carpet and super high clay, more what I would call real off-road dirt racing.

2017 Dirt Nitro Challenge was just that, a challenge.  The layout was the best that it has been in years, I felt that the track was more what I remember the DNC being in the past.  Coming to this race with entirely new platforms of cars, I knew would be difficult but testing before the race gave me the confidence that I would be able to compete and do well.

The ElectroShot comes from the mind of Ty Tessmann and is designed to perform just like a Hole Shot 2.0 while lasting significantly longer. As the name suggests, the ElectroShot is combination of Pro-Line’s Electron and Hole Shot tread designs with connected bars in the center where the heaviest tire wear occurs and Hole Shot pins everywhere else for maximum traction.

Connected bar-type tires like Pro-Line’s new Positron have become the new standard for 1:10 buggy race tires but pins are still the king of the 1:8 Off-Road. The ElectroShot begins to bridge that gap and test the waters with a hybrid Bar and Pin tire. Racers who have tried the ElectroShot say that it feels similar to a HoleShot but has even better forward grip! Be the first to try out the future of 1:8 Race Tire Design with Pro-Line’s new ElectroShot!

This past weekend was the 23rd running of the Reedy International Off-Road Race of Champions  held at OCRC Raceway in Huntington Beach, CA. I have attended this race a few times and normally the format is 2WD first and then 4WD but this year they reversed the order starting with 4WD and as usual had practice for both classes before the racing started.

My XB4’17  and my XB2’17 setups were really good right from the start with the setups that we had tested the previous week, in practice my 4wd had the fastest lap and my 2WD was second fastest to Maifield by 4/100 of a second.

Running the Pro-Line Positrons Was Great!

The 2017 R/C Excitement “Snowball” is in the books.   This race is a two day event with stock running day one, and modified classes running on day two.   This years course was very challenging and technical, and required patience.  We ran modified 2wd and 4wd this year we were able to get 3 rounds of qualifying in.

Both of our Xray’s ran on Pro-Line Electrons in M4 compound as the race hall was about 40F. Read the rest of this entry »

grassrootspodium

This past Saturday I attended the 1st race of the Grass Roots Series at Thunder Alley RC Raceway in Beaumont, CA.  There were 148 entries for this 1 day race, this was the first time in awhile that the Californian’s could get on a track to race due to the rain they have had.  The track was a lot of fun, lots of big jumps and a technical layout.  The track started out with some muddy spots and remained wet throughout the day, due to the moisture in the track it developed a lot of ruts and bumps so at times it was difficult to navigate.
