Buggy-Podium-shot

This past weekend me and my father attended our important 2nd Round of the Australian Nationals Series! The weekend held almost 200 entries with 1:8 Buggy and Truck to be ran over the four days in Melbourne, Australia.

Thursday held two rounds of practice and the first round of qualifying. The track was very hard packed as soon as we got there, it seemed as if we were going to be running on some high traction later on in the event (and we did!). I got started with an awesome round 1 and managed to take both TQ’s in each round.

Friday held four more rounds of qualifying where I would have the chance to take the overall TQ in both.

Both my Team Associated RC8B3 and T3 were working amazing on X3 Blockades as the track began to increase in traction after every run we had!

By the end of the day I managed to smash the field and take the overall TQ in Both Buggy and Truck! Read the rest of this entry »

The 3rd Round of the Australian Nationals series had Perth host the final race for the series in Western Australia! We have run here many times before and it by far is some of the best clay we have ever driven on. An awesome blue groove always comes up with heaps of cars on the track but we knew before we left that we would be battling against the weather gods all week which was very unfortunate but usually for this time of year in Perth.

Over the past weekend I was invited to by Scotty Ernst Productions and the entire Dragon Stone Raceway organization to the first big race held in China called the Asian Buggy championships in Shenyang, China. We arrived at the facility and it was beyond what we expected, with a massive driver stand for both an off-road and on-road track and indoor pitting areas for the international drivers.

We were faced with some bad weather on the first day of open practice so we had to sit around and just prep our vehicles and tires for the next practice day. We were lucky enough to get on the track on Friday for practice but the track was still a little slick due to the earlier muddy conditions. I had a few practice runs around the large open/fast track and my RC8B3 was feeling comfortable. By the end of the day I decided that the Pro-Line X4 Fugitive Tire was the most consistent and fastest around the track. Read the rest of this entry »

Australia’s most successful International racer, Kyle McBride headlined the Modified Invite field with his Team Associated Buggies and was the hot favourite to win, but he was pushed very hard by multi-time national champs Ari Bakla (Xray) and Josh Pain (Sworkz/TLR). After the 2WD day Kyle and Ari were tied but Kyle managed to break free in 4WD to take the overall win by 1 point from Ari with Josh only 1 point further back. The racing between these three was spectacular with the crowd loving it. 4th place overall was 2013/2014 winner Ray Munday (Team Associated) and 5th new Team Associated signing Cameron Zammit.

The past week/ weekend held the 1:10 EP Australian National titles at my home track Chargers RC Race Club. We knew long in advance that the track was going to be held on a sugared surface with a race control tire, that being an X2 Suburb in the rear and X2 Scrub as the front Tire. Practice was meant to kick off on the Wednesday which would be a full day of open practice but as it always is down here in Australia at this time of the year, the weather didn’t agree with us. On Thursday afternoon after the club put a lot of effort into drying the track we finally got two have two practice runs for each vehicle. This practice was almost a bit of a waste of time for trying setup as the conditions were very slippery due to the rain the track had copped but it was a chance to get use to the fast and small technical layout.
