WarmupNitroBuggyPodium
This past weekend we attended the Fuel Nats warmup at Southside RC Raceway in Florida, the facility is amazing and I’m really looking forward to the nationals. It was another awesome layout by SIK track designs and the track preparation by the Southside Raceway crew was great, the surface held up really well.

TessmannDesertClassicTrophies

This weekend I raced at the Desert Classic held at Hobby Action RC Raceway in Arizona, for this race I ran 2WD, 4WD and Truck. The track has a very unique type of dirt that provides extremely high traction and then the surface breaks up a little bit which can make it edgy and very challenging.
Early on all 3 cars were very good in practice, but as the weekend went on the grip level increased dramatically and we were forced to constantly be adjusting setup to the traction level and at times this became very frustrating.

Ty Tessmann dnc 1

This past weekend I raced the Dirt Nitro Challenge in Phoenix, AZ, this year’s race had the most competitive field of drivers that I can ever remember. This year the Track was very challenging to start off with, with a good rhythm section in the front. The track got extremely rough from all the vehicles on it and it became even more difficult. We got 2 seven-minute rounds of practice for each car on Wednesday and this was used for seeding. My cars felt good but we continued to work on the setup throughout practice to get more pace, after practice I ended up seeding 3rd in truck, 6th in nitro buggy and 10th in E-Buggy.
Qualifying was difficult and very intense with the high speed layout and the tough competition. Thursday would be qualifying day for Truggy and E-Buggy. I was able to qualify 5th in E-Buggy and 4th in Truggy, my cars felt good and I felt I should have qualified better, but I was excited for the mains. Friday was nitro buggy qualifying, this was the most difficult because everyone was so close in speed and 1 small mistake would put you from 1st to 8th or worse. I was able to tq the first and third rounds to take the overall TQ for the Main on Sunday.

Invite-Podium

This past weekend I race the Offroad Reedy Race of Champions, at OCRC in Huntington Beach, CA. The top drivers in the world are invited to participate in the Invite portion of the event which is comprised of 6 rounds of heads up racing for each 2WD and 4WD, your top 5 finishes from each class are counted for the combined total and that is how the winner is determined.
The track layout was very challenging, there were 2 very demanding triples along a rhythm section and a whoops section all these parts combined made it very hard to clean consistent laps. Everyone in the invite class was limited to 3 practice runs for each car.

This past week the 1:10 Electric Offroad World Championships were held in Xiamen, China. The track being very different from the typical 1:10 tracks in America, it was very large, high speed, bumpy and high grip, this made it a challenge to get around with such small cars. EOS2WDPodium

This past weekend we traveled to Warsaw, Poland for Round 1 of the 2017/18 EOS series.

The surface was different from anything I had ever run on before, the track was challenging but fun. We had spent a couple days practicing at the HUDY arena with the team and got my cars on pace but getting used to the driving style was the most difficult part, it was a great learning experience overall. SikcrossPodium

This past weekend I raced the SiKcross Race in Southern California at the Pro-Line Test Track. This race is put on by Levi Jackson with SiK Track Designs. The format is different than the standard IFMAR qualifying, it is setup more like motocross with heads up gate starts, so every qualifier you raced against the people in your heat. There were 2 heats of expert, qualifying was determined by points and you would get a 1 for winning your qualifier and the laps and time would determine who TQ’d out of the 2 winners and so on. Although this type of qualifying can sometimes be frustrating and difficult, I found it to be a lot more fun and exciting.
