Invite-Podium

This past weekend I race the Offroad Reedy Race of Champions, at OCRC in Huntington Beach, CA. The top drivers in the world are invited to participate in the Invite portion of the event which is comprised of 6 rounds of heads up racing for each 2WD and 4WD, your top 5 finishes from each class are counted for the combined total and that is how the winner is determined.
The track layout was very challenging, there were 2 very demanding triples along a rhythm section and a whoops section all these parts combined made it very hard to clean consistent laps. Everyone in the invite class was limited to 3 practice runs for each car.

CRCRC Midwest Champs recap.. After having to take off just about 3 months from racing due to work, it was great seeing everyone again and meeting some new teammates that made it a really fun week. This race was a huge learning experience for myself and I wanted to thank Joe, Mason, Tyler, and everyone else for your help this past week and taking your time explaining everything to me. I went into this race knowing next to nothing when it came to 1:10 racing, and was learning more and more as the week went on.

Yesterday Matt Lance and Jonah Lochiatto, and I traveled to Big Dog RC for some club racing. The classes I ran were 4wd 1:10 Mod Buggy, and E-Buggy. During Practice I got my cars dialed in and chose the tires I wanted to run for qualifying. Qualifying went decently alright I would qualify 6th in 4WD Buggy and 7th in Electric Buggy.

For the Mains I decided to run MC Electrons on E-Buggy and MC Electrons in the front of my 4wd Buggy and M4 Positrons in the rear (Thanks Austin Graul for letting me use the Positrons for the main.) Read the rest of this entry »

This past weekend I raced the Winter Classic at LSR Raceway.

I raced 2WD Mod Buggy and 4WD Mod Buggy. I have been going to Lsr for the past couple Saturdays to get my cars better on the low-medium grip clay track and there was some more practice on Friday before the race.

Thanks to doing this I had my XB2’17CE and XB4’17 dialed on Pro-Line MC Electrons on the Front and Pro-Line MC Positrons on the rear powered by Hobbywing. Read the rest of this entry »

Had a strong beginning to the indoor season when I traveled to Speed RC to attend their 2nd Annual Pumpkin Dash. Thanks to my wife for filming the A-Main race.

In 2WD SCT class, I was able to take TQ honors with my XRAY XSC2 (a converted XT2). After mediocre results in the first round of qualifying, I made a few changes and bounced to claim the top spot in rounds two and three. Starting on the pole was key in the Main as I was able to get away cleanly and keep things smooth for the entire 8-minutes and was able to follow up the TQ with a Win.

Would make the four-hour drive down to Reno Nevada for their first annual Whip-It RC Stateline Nationals. I’d be mainly running the new Tekno EB410 Buggy, I would also be running my 2WD Mod Buggy for a second class. The track would be unlike most 1:10 tracks I’m used to, it would be bumpy with traction fluctuating. I spent most of Friday getting the buggies good and where I wanted them to be.

For qualifying I would have a good first-round grabbing the TQ in 4WD and snagging a 2nd in 2WD, for the last two rounds I would have some issues in both cars. I would end up tying for the TQ in 4WD, unfortunately I would lose the tie-breaker and start second for the main. As for 2WD I would have to settle for starting 3rd in the Main. We would run a single six-minute main in 4WD and an 8-minute Main for 2WD.
