Saturday March 18th was the first event for the 2017 Dog Days of Summer Series at the indoor Bumps and Jumps RC facility in Etters, PA. The The event gathered 150 entries on what hopes to be the last day of awakening to snow in the Northeast as shown from the photo that morning.

Saturday March 11th was the final big event for 2017 at the indoor Bumps and Jumps RC facility in Etters, PA. The electric elite challenge proved to live up to its namesake with several features that were getting the best of most of the drivers. The event gathered 142 entries represented from the states of Virginia to New York.
Ethan entered the event in the Two and Four Wheel Drive Modified Buggy classes with three rounds of qualifying. His car was equipped with Pro-Line Micron tires on all four corners in the MC clay compound. The 4wd modified buggy class would be up first. He qualified fourth in the A-Main and at the sound of the tone within half a lap, he would take over the number three spot and begin to real in the Associated cars of Christian Toic and Alex Miller. The race was on now between the top three cars and after a few mistakes by the competition Ethan was able to take over the number one spot and continue to hold on to it for the rest of the race. Saturday March 4th was the first race in the ROAR Region 2 tenth scale points series in Winchester, VA at Adrenalin RC. The unusual weather in the northeast with high temperatures of thirty seven degrees would prove to be a challenge for the drivers. The event gathered 70 entries to battle it out to see who could get traction and maintain the feelings in their throttle fingers.
Ethan entered the event in the two and four wheel drive modified buggy classes.
After 3 rounds of qualifying, Ethan would start in the top qualifying position for both classes and complete the sweep of A-Mains, finishing first in both features. Read the rest of this entry »
Sunday, January 15th was the fifth and final race in the Adrenaline RC fall point series in Winchester, VA. The indoor facility is capable of running 1:8 electric classes through out the entire fall and winter, which is a first for the region. The event gathered 91 entries to battle it out for the final event of the series.
Ethan entered the event in the 1:8 Electric Buggy class with his Mugen Seiki MBX7r on Pro-Line M4 Electroshot tires and the Pro-Line Trifecta lexan wing for the entire weekend. After 2 rounds of qualifying, Ethan would start in the top qualifying position and complete the sweep of double A-mains finishing first in both features. Pro-Line’s Jason and Ethan Mackanick would compete in the Stadium Truck and 4WD Modified Buggy classes respectively. Jason started 7th on the A-Main grid and would finish 5th after a rough start. Ethan would start 4th in the A-Main feature and put on a battle for the lead during the first 5-minutes and then falling back to finish 4th.
On July 23rd, racers from the East Coast traveled to the Tiltyard in Dayton, VA for the 2016 East Coast Shoot out presented by Race Ready Products. With temperatures on tap all weekend for over 100 degrees, it was sure to be a hot one. The event gathered 127 entries to battle it out for the top spots over the 2 day event.
Ethan entered the event in the 1:8 Nitro Buggy class with his Mugen Seiki MBX7r on Pro-Line X3 LockDown Tires for the entire weekend. Qual points were the race format and he would put his buggy after three rounds of qualifying on the number three starting position in the A-Main behind Pro-Line teammate, Anthony Mazzarra. Saturday, July 9th in Oakland Mills, PA at the LCRC racing facility racers gathered from across the Mid-Atlantic Region to battle it out for the third race in the ROAR Region 2 Mid-Atlantic Series. With 115 entries, Pro-Line drivers in attendance were Ethan Mackanick, Jason Schreffler and Anthony Mazzara.
The first A-main features on tap for the day started out with the double A-mains for the Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. Team Losi’s Anthony Mazzara would finish on the number two podium spot in the 1/8th Electric Buggy class.
The next set of racing would lead into a great start to finish battle for the thirty minutes in the 1/8th Nitro Truggy class between Jason Schreffler and Ethan Mackanick. They would exchange the position for the top spot several times throughout the race and Mackanick was able to gain the advantage through fuel mileage and less stops to keep his Mugen Seiki MBX7TR on Pro-Line Blockades M3 tires while holding off Schreffler for the number one spot.
The final race would be the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class. The duo of Team Losi’s Jason Schreffler and Anthony Mazzara would battle it out with Chad Phillips on the Hot Bodies Racing platform. The three Pro-Line drivers would dominate the podium with Schreffler in first, Phillips in second and Mazzara finishing third.
We traveled on Friday for the five and half hour trip north to CRC Raceway in Rome, NY to attend the Rumble in Rome race. The event gathered over two hundred and seven entries, but had to be shortened from two days to one day due to incoming weather predicted on Sunday.
On Saturday, May 7th Ethan Mackanick and his father, Jason, attended the inaugural Picco Cup at LCRC Raceway in Oakland Mills, PA. The event gathered 148 entries with 2 rounds of qualifying then followed by the main event features. The weather in central Pennsylvania was damp and wet for eleven days prior to the race event which lead to high traction in the opening qualifiers.
His Novarossi Mito 4 powered engine was fueled with Flashpoint nitro fuel. After 2 rounds of qualifying, Ethan would start 7th in the A-Main feature. At the sound of the tone he would start working his way up through the pack into a tight battle for the 3rd place position with Team Associated’s Alex Miller. At the 4 minute mark though his hopes for another podium would come to and end due a throttle servo failure. Read the rest of this entry »
The final big 1:10 race of the indoor season for the racers in the Northeast is annually in March at Bumps and Jumps RC in Etters, PA for the Elite Electric Challenge.
With unusually warmer temperatures, this years event had 120 entries. Mackanick, driving for Mugen Seiki and Pro-Line Tires would put both his 4WD Modified Short Course Truck and 4WD Modified Buggy into the A-Main features. Starting in the top qualifier spot with the short course truck on his first weekend ever driving this class. He started on the number 5 qualifying spot in 4WD Modified Buggy class.
