We headed to Cocoa Friday night after work to camp out with some friends for the weekend. Saturday was open practice in the morning and I could try out my new 2WD SCT. We ended up having to make a few adjustments as it was traction rolling, but other than that it was dialed.

David is really pleased with his Yokomo Buggy powered by #Trinity. He took TQ in qualifying with 13/5:28.365. The Main was an exciting race between David and #Don Tech. At the beginning of the Main Don made a mistake that gave David a good lead, but each lap Don was reeling him in. It was around lap 11 where Don was given the chance to make the pass on David. At that time, we all thought it was over, but right before the last lap David made an awesome pass on the wall ride and took home 1st place by 0.35 of a second.

Today was the warm up race for round 1 of the SuperCup series being held next weekend. The turnout was low with only 48 entries. With us getting done early we could get in a lot of practice afterwards and make additional changes to our cars. This was helpful as we were still tuning our cars to run on Astro turf.

Today was round 2 of the SFORCS held at Coral Springs RC track which brought in 90+ entries. The track condition started off wet and ended up blue grooved.  David and I thought we would keep it simple today and raced only one class.

Our Pro-Line Hole Shot Tires gave us the traction we needed all day. Read the rest of this entry »

We arrived around 6:00 Friday night to get in a couple hours of practice. It’s a good thing we did because we ended up having to fix all our cars. I was taking some laps with my 13.5 Buggy when all of a sudden it just stopped. My speed control died. Thank you, #Brett Hold for giving me one so I could race the next day. David was next to head back to the pits with his broken 13.5 Buggy. It was a mad house on the drivers stand with 18 to 19 drivers at a time on a small sized track. When he got done he walked off with his front diff housing cracked in two. While David worked on our buggies I tried out my 2WD SCT.

The Wicked Weekend
Chicopee Woods Agricultural Center – Gainesville, GA
August 19 – 21, 2016

Wicked Weekend has been our favorite race by far and after attending this year it still is. There were 640+ entries this year making it the largest attendance for this race ever. #Dave Leikam, #Jennifer Tyndall Smith, #Bobby Moore and the whole track crew put together an outstanding event with a super fun track layout. Race announcer #Lance MacDonald along with some help by #Patrick Rossiter kept the program running smoothly and made it exciting. We want to give a huge shout out to #JJ Sports Photos for taking the time to capture some awesome shots throughout the whole weekend.

It’s the weekend before the 2016 ROAR Region 4 Off Road Championship race. The crew at Beachline Raceway along with many other locals worked long hard hours the past week to give us an awesome track to race on for Regionals. David and I both appreciate everything and really enjoy racing there.

ROAD TRIP! AMS 7.0 here we come. I rushed home from work where David had the camper hooked up and ready to go and we were off. I got to sit back and take in the view as David took the first shift driving. David got us through Orlando before it was my turn to take over. This would be my second time towing the camper and it would be the longest drive ever. I was so focused on not to be sucked in by a tractor trailer truck that I missed the baby deer with white spots and the Alligator posing with his mouth opened. At least David got to see them. We ended up driving to mile marker 108 in Georgia when we decided to pull over at the rest area to get in a few hours of sleep.  Taking off thenext morning we arrived at the Agriculture Center in Cullman Alabama at 11:00 AM……830.50 miles later.

Friday started the long holiday weekend. We packed up our new camper and headed to Sundancers RC Raceway. As we were setting up camp a deer came out of the grassy area and was within 20 feet of us. I have never been so close to a deer before. It was the coolest thing ever. David and I were able to get in a couple batteries of practice before the torrential rain hit. We had forgotten that we had our windows open in our camper and when we finally remembered we walked into a nightmare. The rain came in and was all over our electronics and our bed was drenched. As we quickly shut the windows and tried to wipe up the mess we must have turned the burner on our gas stove without realizing it because the carbon monoxide detector started going off. With everything that happened that night we got the camper aired out and saved our electronics.

I got out of work early on Friday and headed home to meet up with David. He already had the camper packed and hooked up to the van. With both of us excited we started our 2 hour trip, which ended up taking longer as we ran into some severe weather along the way. We arrived at Beachline Raceway in Cocoa, FL where they allowed us to camp for the weekend. This is a great RC facility where they take care of their customers very well. We were able to get in a lot of practice laps Friday night as they stay opened later.
