The Super Cup Championship Series was held at Beachline Raceway in Cocoa, FL. There was a great turnout for round 1 with 192 entries. This is probably the largest points series in Florida for 1:10 scale cars and you will find the top drivers attending.

June 10, 2017 Club Race, Beachline Raceway – Cocoa, FL

We headed to Beachline Raceway this weekend for our first night club race. We got in a ton of practice Saturday before the race. I even got the chance to play around and adjust my steering and brake percentages on my controller to see how it would help with the handling of my cars. It defiantly was a tremendous help and I found out my cars weren’t as jerky.

If you didn’t attend the Pro-Line Summer Shootout held at Southside Raceway located in Lake City you missed out on probably what will be the greatest event of the year in Florida. With an amazing 340 entries, the place was packed. The time and effort put in from #Brian Lewis, #Lance McDonald and the entire track crew really showed. It’s an outstanding facility that had a brand-new tire wash area, air station to blow off cars and a new staging area. The track itself had many features including the Cabbage Patch and brick sections. It had a couple step ups/ step downs, huge double, triple and the largest off camber around. It was challenging and it made you think about your tire choice which to us is all part of racing.

We tested Pro-Line Hole Shots, Fugitive Lites and ElectroShots during practice on Friday. Read the rest of this entry »

Club Race

Beachline Raceway – Cocoa, FL

We went to Beachline Raceway to get in some practice on the new track layout before round 3 of the Turf Wars next weekend. David had some bad luck and broke several parts including the front a-arm on his x-ray, the rear a-arm on his Yokomo, the end of his x-ray axle and 2 turn buckle ends. During the club race, he qualified 3rd and felt good going into the main. During his practice laps before the main he ended up breaking his turn buckle end and didn’t get to race.

I was the only one racing 2wd truck so they added me to the 4wd class. My truck was dialed and had all the power I needed with my #Trinity 9.5 Monster Motor. I qualified 2nd and was starting behind #Tony Nicotra. After the first couple of laps I made a pass on Tony taking over the number 1 spot. It didn’t last long as I landed on the top of Mount Fuji and popped my ball cup. Thank you to the turn marshal who got it popped back in for me. I lost about 14 seconds and dropped about 1/3 of a lap back. I started pushing hard and put together consistent laps one after another until I finally caught up to 2nd place and got a chance to pass him. I ended up only being 6 seconds out of 1st.

PSYCHO NITRO BLAST 10TH Anniversary: The Decimation, April 7 – 9 White Pine, Tennessee

ilerpsychonitro-1

This would be our first year attending the Psycho Nitro Blast held in White Pine, Tennessee. The night before our big trip we were both sick. Between David blowing his nose and me not being able to swallow due to my sore throat, neither one of us got any sleep. How could this be happening now? We got up the next morning and headed to work to wrap up some stuff before hitting the road. Still not feeling all that great we knew it was going to be a long ride as we had around 860 miles to drive. 2 hours in we hit severe weather. The wind was blowing extremely hard and it was hailing. We ended up driving for around 7 hours before stopping at a rest area. We climbed into our camper to get some rest and hoped to feel better the next morning. Waking up to a loud KABOOM! of thunder around 6:00AM that was our que to hit the road. After David drove for 3 hours in the rain as we got near Atlanta, GA an emergency broadcast came on the radio warning people of tornados in the area, heavy winds and rain. We couldn’t have been happier when we finally arrived at the Expo Center around 1:00PM. That’s when the rain finally stopped. Since we were one of the first people to arrive we got to choose our camp site and blocked off front row camping for our friends arriving tomorrow. After making a quick trip to Walmart to stock up our cabinets and refrigerator for the weekend, we are now able to sit back and relax until Friday.

Turf Wars round 2 held at Beachline Raceway turned out to be a fun day full of close exciting racing. #Jeremy Mangus did an excellent job announcing and made sure the Mains started clean and if not he brought you back to do a restart.

We headed to Cocoa Friday night after work to camp out with some friends for the weekend. Saturday was open practice in the morning and I could try out my new 2WD SCT. We ended up having to make a few adjustments as it was traction rolling, but other than that it was dialed.

David is really pleased with his Yokomo Buggy powered by #Trinity. He took TQ in qualifying with 13/5:28.365. The Main was an exciting race between David and #Don Tech. At the beginning of the Main Don made a mistake that gave David a good lead, but each lap Don was reeling him in. It was around lap 11 where Don was given the chance to make the pass on David. At that time, we all thought it was over, but right before the last lap David made an awesome pass on the wall ride and took home 1st place by 0.35 of a second.

Today was the warm up race for round 1 of the SuperCup series being held next weekend. The turnout was low with only 48 entries. With us getting done early we could get in a lot of practice afterwards and make additional changes to our cars. This was helpful as we were still tuning our cars to run on Astro turf.

Today was round 2 of the SFORCS held at Coral Springs RC track which brought in 90+ entries. The track condition started off wet and ended up blue grooved.  David and I thought we would keep it simple today and raced only one class.

Our Pro-Line Hole Shot Tires gave us the traction we needed all day. Read the rest of this entry »
