This past weekend was the official start of the outdoor season with Thunder Alley Raceway (Wilson, NC) hosting their Season Opener Trophy race. After a year hiatus from Thunder Alley, the 2WD SCT class was offered again which meant I got to run my Pro-Line PRO-2 SCT.
The PRO-2 ran primarily indoors throughout 2016 on high-bite clay tracks so a few adjustments were required. After a couple practice laps, I felt comfortable with the truck and my Tire selection (Pro-Line Hole Shots). Qualifying went extremely smooth, as I was able to keep everything clean.
My Pro-Line PRO-2, TQ’ed the 2WD SCT division as the truck as able lapping the field en route to winning both qualifiers. Read the rest of this entry »
Finally home and rested from the 2017 Dirt Nitro Challenge. Had a pretty up and down week of racing with a lot of bad luck. I would have really good E-Buggy qualifying on the rough track which would position me in the B-Main of Pro E-Buggy. And in pro nitro buggy, it seemed like I couldn’t catch a break. I would have transponder issues in Q1 and break on the final lap in Q3 which would put me in a pretty low Main come Sunday.
Had a blast this weekend at the opening march club race at Thunder Road Hobbies! Some stiff competition showed up from all over! Was able to TQ both rounds of Nitro Buggy by less than a second over Jake Spaulding and Mike Murphy Jr. to take the overall! And also took both rounds of Truggy over Brandon Hogan! Mains went well!
Saturday March 4th was the first race in the ROAR Region 2 tenth scale points series in Winchester, VA at Adrenalin RC. The unusual weather in the northeast with high temperatures of thirty seven degrees would prove to be a challenge for the drivers. The event gathered 70 entries to battle it out to see who could get traction and maintain the feelings in their throttle fingers.
Ethan entered the event in the two and four wheel drive modified buggy classes.
After 3 rounds of qualifying, Ethan would start in the top qualifying position for both classes and complete the sweep of A-Mains, finishing first in both features. Read the rest of this entry »
This past weekend was the annual 2017 Rumble in the Rockies at MHOR Raceway in Aurora Colorado. This was the second time I’ve ran this race and right off the bat I could tell my perseverance and practice paid off. We had a great turn out of local racers and even some top names in the hobby. Kody Numedahl came back out of retirement with his B6d and new B64 running Mod, Nick Wautlet from associated was in attendance along with our home track AE drivers Zeke Ballinger and Dustin Evans running his new AE cars. TLR also had great representation from out of state Team Manager Kevin Gahan and Team Driver Tanner Denney. Needless to say competition was at an all time high and I had my work cut out for me.
We headed to Cocoa Friday night after work to camp out with some friends for the weekend. Saturday was open practice in the morning and I could try out my new 2WD SCT. We ended up having to make a few adjustments as it was traction rolling, but other than that it was dialed.
David is really pleased with his Yokomo Buggy powered by #Trinity. He took TQ in qualifying with 13/5:28.365. The Main was an exciting race between David and #Don Tech. At the beginning of the Main Don made a mistake that gave David a good lead, but each lap Don was reeling him in. It was around lap 11 where Don was given the chance to make the pass on David. At that time, we all thought it was over, but right before the last lap David made an awesome pass on the wall ride and took home 1st place by 0.35 of a second.

2017 Dirt Nitro Challenge was just that, a challenge. The layout was the best that it has been in years, I felt that the track was more what I remember the DNC being in the past. Coming to this race with entirely new platforms of cars, I knew would be difficult but testing before the race gave me the confidence that I would be able to compete and do well.
This past week I was at Fear Farm Raceway for The Dirt Nitro Challenge.
