The 2010 JBRL Electric Series was hosted by five different tracks extending from Orange County to Bakersfield, California. The Series started in March and ended just recently in October. On average each round had over 200 entries! This years JBRL series I made it a point to attend all the rounds and race in the Unlimited 4wd Short Course Class with my Jammin’ SCRT-10 with Pro-Line wheels, tires and bodies.

Chad Bradley – 2010 Unlimited Short Course Champion

The series had three of the eight rounds at indoor tracks which I used Pro-Line Suburb SC (MC compound), white Split Six wheels and the PL Jammin’ Desert Rat body. Two of the rounds was hosted at Hot Rod Hobbies which I preferred to use the Pro-Line’s Bow-Tie SC (M2 compound) because of the extremely long life the tread pattern has. I also used this tire at Racers Haven in Bakersfield which had an abrasive surface that was also treated with tar.

The remaining rounds were held at Pegasus Hobbies which the surface was sometimes dry or wet. I found either the Hole Shot SC or Sniper SC in M3 compound to work best on this surface. Pro-Line tires and accessories were the most preferred product used in the Unlimited Short Course class by the majority of the racers at each round. I lead in the points standings since the opening round and locked up the overall points win with two or three rounds remaining on the schedule. I nearly finished with a perfect score by just one win.

I would like to thank everyone at Pro-Line for working so hard all year to make sure we had the best Short Course tire for each event that had so many different conditions. I felt I had a huge advantage all year using Pro-Line products!

May 22-23 2010 Team Novak presents the 1st annual Short Course Race at West Coast Raceway. The race was strictly short course trucks and had an amazing 160 entries that comprised of 2wd and 4wd trucks. The OFNA and Jammin trucks once again dominated the 4wd Short Course class!

Qualifying

Round 1 in the Expert 4wd Short Course class Randy Kung set the TQ mark with the Hyper 10SC. Randy’s time held until round 3 when Chad Bradley driving the Jammin SCRT-10 set a time 4 seconds faster than Randy’s round 1 time, Chad’s time would hold giving him the overall TQ going into the main events on Sunday. After qualifying the top 3 spots were held by Chad Bradley driving the SCRT-10, Randy Kung with the Hyper 10SC and Brian Kinwald driving Jay Halsey’s SCRT-10.

Expert 4wd Short Course Triple A-Mains

A-1 Chad Bradley shot out to an early lead, Randy Kung applied some early pressure on the first lap however Chad was able to secure the lead from Randy. After a few laps were put in Brian Kinwald driving a SCRT-10 loaned to him by Jay Halsey was able to get around Randy for the second position. Brian closed the gap between himself and Chad by a second, later in the run Chad was able to gap himself a little between himself and Brian and take the win in A-1. Brian Kinwald finished second and Randy Kung in 3rd.

Video of Exp. 4wd A-1

A-2 Chad lead the first few laps until getting loose at the end of strait and wrecked going through the whoop section, this allowed Brian Kinwald to take the lead from Bradley, Kinwald put about a full strait-away length over Bradley. Chad was determined to secure the overall win in round 2, however Brain Kinwald put in solid consistent laps from the point of taking the lead to end of the race. Kinwald took the win, Bradley in second, and Kung in 3rd. So going into the 3rd and final main Chad Bradley and Brain Kinwald are now tied, whoever finishes higher between the two drivers would take the overall win in the exp. 4wd class.

Video of Exp. 4wd A-2

A-3 Bradley and Kinwald both have wins in the first 2 main events, the winner in the 3rd main will take the overall win in the expert 4wd Class. Fortunately for Chad Bradley he said this run was the best his truck has worked all weekend. Chad and Brian were able to get a clean start from the beginning of the race, Chad put in a flawless run in A-3 and Brain wasn’t able to pull close enough. Chad and Brain were separated by only 2 seconds for most of the final main. Chad Bradley took the win in A-3 and the overall, Brian Kinwald finished 2nd and Kevin Smith in 3rd making it a Jammin 1-2-3 finish and that was the overall after 3 hard fought main events!

Video of Exp. 4wd A-3

Chad used the Pro-Line M3 Caliber SC tires with the Split Six rear wheels on the front and rear on his Jammin SCRT-10 to capture the overall TQ. Chad set the fastest time in round 1 by nearly 2 laps and nearly a lap in round 2 with the M3 Caliber SC/Split Six tires and wheels. Track conditions were drastically different for the main events, so Chad opted for the M3 Bow-Tie SC for the harder packed conditions, showing that Pro-Line has you covered for all track conditions in the Short Course classes. The Pro 4wd Short Course main event saw Chad Bradley pull to an early 10-12 second lead over 2nd place, and never let up to take the convincing win and his 3rd Silver State Title, thanks to Pro-Line products!

I would have never imagined how fast the short course truck class would become so popular here in Southern California as it has in the past year. I’ve been racing my Jammin SC for the past three or four months now around all the tracks in So Cal, from smooth indoor tracks to huge loamy 1:8 off road tracks with monster size jumps. I mainly race at my home track Hot Rod Hobbies in Santa Clarita, CA. We normally have 80-100 entries on a Tuesday night and 70% of those entries are short course trucks. The indoor tracks that I race at are very similar to Hot Rod’s in regards to the entries, so I don’t think this class is going anywhere but becoming even more popular, thanks to the product Pro-Line produces and the manufactures of the trucks!

I’ve been having a blast racing these trucks and I honestly believe its been helping my driving in the 1:8 nitro classes as well. Below is a link to many of my races around So Cal racing my short course truck.

Best Regards,

I want to apologize for being M.I.A. in my blog writings the past few months. My life outside of r/c racing has been pretty boring since the beginning of the year, well I don’t consider it boring since¬†I have been able to race a lot¬†this year. I have been trying to back into¬†racing form and contend at the highest level by club racing as much as possible, I have been pleased with my results this year, thanks to a lot of great new product from PL, things like¬†the new VTR truck tires, wheels, foams¬†and the new Caliber buggy tires have been making racing that much easier and fun!

I went to an awesome race up in Toronto Canada and got to meet many new racers as well as some that I haven’t seen in some time, and I just got back from a weekend race up in central California that was a blast as well.

Well I just returned back home in the good ol US of A after a weeklong trip at the Neo-Buggy Race in the UK. This race was a little more special than most other races I’ve been to abroad, mainly because we were able to do a little sight seeing. Myself, Jay Halsey and Taylor James spent the first few days in down town London to do the typical tourist stuff. What stood out in down town London was all the HOT girls, they are tuff, it was very cold and short skirts seem to be the fashion in March. We got to ride the London Eye (big ferris wheel) it showed us an “aces” view of London, as the locals would put it.
