This past weekend, the international cycling community descended onto Northern California for an event called the Sea Otter Classic. Yea, it’s a strange name, but it’s a pretty massive event.¬†They have racing for all levels of both road and mountain bikers. There are event for first timer groms all the way up¬†to international World Cup professionals.

One of the vendors that were on site to demo their product was Ducati. You thought I was going to say something like Gatorade.. But no,¬†I’m taking about Italian sex on wheels Ducati.¬†Basically, if you had a motorcycle license, insurance, and riding gear, you could ‘check out’ one of their 1100cc¬†Hypermotard.¬† How is it possible for¬†something with ‘tard’ in the name to be this cool?¬†

I borrowed riding gear from anyone I knew that was anywhere near my size and signed up.¬†They sent us out on¬†a 30-minute winding road route.¬†The event was at Laguna Seca Raceway, but unfortunately, we didn’t have access to the track.¬†

Hopping on a machine with 90 hp, and 76 lb-ft torque that weighs less that 400lb is exciting to say the least.¬†It would likely be more accurate to say it was horrifying.¬†As if the power wasn’t enough, this bike has two¬†massive 300mm front rotors with twin monoblock, 4 piston calipers.¬†I think I could get my eyes to come out of their sockets the brakes were so powerful.

It was a long weekend of working outside, but this 30-minute escape was the highlight for sure.

“It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.”¬† Ferris Bueller.
Well it’s that time again to try this blogging thingamajig and I have had some pretty interesting personal events take place lately and I’m proud to announce one in particular and that is I asked my girlfriend Kim to marry me this weekend and to prove she’s crazy she said yes!  So now what? I think the biggest events I have had to plan for so far have been things like the ROAR Nats, the Worlds and college in which the A+ I made in Party 101 is still not paying off and neither are the D’s and C’s I made in everything else. Lol!

Anyways I‚Äôm in for uncharted territory but I feel confident in knowing that I picked the right person to help manage, argue, bicker, have fun and enjoy it with. That‚Äôs another thing I have learned and that is if you can‚Äôt fight well together than your in for a long road ahead. Not only is Kim now my fianc√©e but along with my parents she‚Äôs my biggest racing fan and not to mention her father also likes to know how I‚Äôm doing as well. Its funny because when I head out for a race no matter if it‚Äôs a club race or a weekend away at a regional event the first question from Kim is ‚ÄúIs it going to be on Live RC?‚Äù and if not it becomes two races in one, the actual race its self and the race to keep up with the text messages to keep her informed on how I‚Äôm doing‚Ķlol Read the rest of this entry »

I know they say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!  Since we were actually in Boulder City Nevada I figured I would share my race results from the Silver State Nitro Challenge with everyone. I raced Buggy,Truggy, and 1:8th Electric Buggy and made all three A-Mains in each class. It was a great weekend for me!
Maybe the New Pro-line Caliber tire put me in the mix with some of the Big Boys of R/C?   Check out the results. http://liverc.com/
Chicago is trying to do it’s best to impress the International Olympic Committee that we should host the next Olympic games here.¬† So while they’re busy¬†paving the streets nice and smooth that the Committee tour will be touring, the other 98% of the roads continue to dissolve into what looks like a minefield.

I’ve seriously seen potholes that would damage a full on Trophy truck…now imagine what happens when to¬†a rusty ’86 Honda Civic¬†sails into one of these.¬†
The crazy thing, is I’ve seen these holes literally develop in a matter of hours.¬† What will start off as a small crack in the morning will open up big enough to blow a tire off an unsuspecting¬†Cadillac later that same day.
Plan on driving thru Chicago?  Bring your spare!
